Vision Dynamics Launches Expanded Line of permaTINT™
Pre-Tinted Polycarbonate Semi-Finished Single Vision
Louisville, Kentucky, October, 2013 - Vision Dynamics is pleased to launch our expanded line of pre-tinted polycarbonate semi-finished single vision lens blanks in 2, 4, 6 and 8 base.
Our pre-tinted polycarbonate SFSV lens blanks for sport, computer, and driving prescriptions integrate easily in conventional and digital surfacing lines. Our proprietary colorization process applies a uniform density layer on the front surface of the blank and includes a hard coat. Surfacing does not affect the color layer so the finished lens has consistent edge-to-edge color performance.
"Tinting polycarbonate lens blanks has always been a difficult process for optical labs," shares John Dippold, VP Operations. "With permaTINT, we eliminate the production issues associated with tinting in a traditional dye tank. This includes blotching, inconsistencies from hard coat variations and light or dark centers. Labs experience a reduction in overall breakage and improve service time by not losing the lens in the final step of the production process," added Dippold.
The permaTINT product is available in seven standard color options including, grey C, brown C and green-grey 15. Custom color matching services are available for unique products. With uniform color density across the complete Rx range, permaTINT lenses are ideal for processing free-form progressives.
"Adding pre-tinted permTINT saves time, simplifies workflow and improves service," said Eric Lindquist, National Account Manager. "It is a great product solution for solving a universal problem," concluded Lindquist.

Optical Dynamics Introduces sunSMART II Photochromic
Louisville, Kentucky, May, 2013 - Optical Dynamics, the leader in in-office digital lens production, announces the launch of sunSMART™ II as the newest addition to our family of proprietary photochromic lens products. sunSMART II is available for use with the Q-2100™ Digital Lens System and as uncuts through Vision Dynamics Laboratory.
"Optical Dynamics long history of photochromic breakthroughs continues with the introduction of sunSMART II," shared Galen Powers, President. "A new generation of photochromic dyes made these improvements possible. We've seen more dye advances in the past couple years than we had in the previous ten which means better performing lenses for our customers." added Powers.
Consumers today want a dark photochromic that is adaptive in all light conditions with high temperature stability. Color consistency throughout the aging process is also important. Introducing a photochromic with all the desired attributes may sound simple, but the science of photochromics is a complex and detailed development process.
"sunSMART II maintains a more neutral grey color over the activation/deactivation cycle, under various kinds of lighting, and over the life of the prescription," said Ralph Ortiz, Sales Manger. "With sunSMART II, wearers will get the same color experience wherever they go, whenever they go there," concluded Ortiz.
"Our new patented sunSMART II gives our customers a true competitive advantage with a premium photochromic lens at a competitive price," said Mike Yager, VP Sales. "sunSMART II provides optimal vision in all light conditions, maintains darkness at high temperatures and has long lasting properties built into the lens material," summarized Yager.
